 While most of us would expect to see people walking out of a barber's shop with less hair than they walked in with, that's not always the case in Derby.

For Rob Milton, who runs the Gorilla Hair Repair Club, specialising in helping people regain a full head of hair without the need for painful transplant surgery.

Rob, whose shop is on Babington Lane in Derby City Centre, was prompted to start offering the "hair systems" after a career change following 20 years in construction, and a disappointing experience while trying to tackle his own baldness.

The 40-year-old said: "I was fed up of being in-and-out of construction work so at Christmas I decided to make the change and switch up my career. I started training in the January with my son at Nottingham Barber Academy, and now I'm a fully qualified male hair specialist, in both hair cutting, styling, and fitting the hair systems.

 "It's life-changing for so many people. A lot of people opt for hair transplant surgery - as did I - but unfortunately it worked at the front, back and sides but I was still bald on the top!

"This happens to a lot of people and because they [hair transplant surgeons] say it can take up to a year for the hair to fully come through, people spend a year hoping for the best and in some cases it's a complete waste of money because it hasn't worked properly. The hair systems are unique to each person, depending on their requirements during the consultation, and because it's non-surgical we can guarantee results."

Although Rob specialises in male hair, he says the hair systems are also available for women and he can fit them on any hair type - including afro hair.

Rob added: "The systems last up to around six months but they need refitting every three weeks to make sure the hair is looked after. I wanted to learn how to fit the hair systems because I was affected by baldness myself, and I wanted to help other people who suffer with baldness as it gives so many people more confidence and pride in the way they look."

He said the hair systems can be worn in the gym and even for swimming as they are made from 100% natural human hair.
